Hey Mr/.Ms. Judgmental

Next time you feel like judging anyone’s past, look at your own past and present and then contemplate your own future. Your time would be better spent. Unless they’re harming others, grab a mirror and realize that we are all in this world together and Death will likely touch us all. Your judgments are no shield to him. You waste your time.

Tip: If you need to get some info from someone, better be prepared to stoop to their level. The price? Decide.

  1. Great posting!! XOXO – Bacon

  2. It took me a long time to break the judging habit. Life is better without it.

  3. Judgmentalism is taught to us by our parents, especially when they were gossiping behind the backs of others. I’ve learned to shed it for the most part, but I do admit one prejudice: Bigots!

Thanks for commenting so often at SLP. I always smile when I see your gravatar!

Your poem is dark, unsettling without being truly creepy, and a very, very strong write. The last line flips all your suppositions on their ear. BRILL. Amy

    • I grew up in a kind family with bigots all around since no one knew quite what to think about Cubans. I think it’s just fear of the unknown and the delusional belief that certain ethnicities are better than others. They can change. What I can’t accept are pedophiles. They can’t change and that scares me.

Amy, I adore your poems and love the commentary you put at the end about yourself. You might not know it, but you are a role model for me. You speak and mean what you say, you live with no regrets, you know what it’s like to have your brain get into weird stuff, and you continue to believe that people for the most part are good. Thank God for people like you! You make my day when you visit!

Thanks for the compliment. I don’t venture often into poetry, so it was great to hear.

      • George, I LOVE your forays into poetry. I can also tell by your comments that you are a kindred soul… a truth-teller unafraid of backlash.

Your piece here reminds me of what Jesus said, that before you point out the splinter in another’s eye, take care of the log in your own first. So true. Love, Amy

      • Thanks so much, Amy! That means a lot because of how much I get from reading yours. I just don’t have the heart to carry the anger around. And I’m sick of everyone being judged by foolish things they did years ago as if there were no such things as redemption and change. 😉 I have quite a few logs backing up the river that I’m working on.

    Simply said, but well put.

  5. Fantastic to read this tonight! Excellent and just what I needed to read. 🙂

  6. I don’t why, but it seems so easy for folks to judge others, while completely withholding the same criticism from their own actions. Human nature? I hope not. But it might be…
