Wabi-Sabi of Balding Men

I’ve been thinking about writing about my love for balding men for a while now. Although I have a male pen name, I am a woman and nothing calls my attention to a man more than some skin. Thanks to a prompt from Rarasaur at (a very nice and friendly blog) I decided to consider it wabi-sabi, These supposed imperfections are what help make these men so aesthetically pleasing to me.

Here’s my top ten recognizable bald/balding men. They are in no particular order, perhaps.

10) Patrick Stewart

9) John Malkovich

8) Bruce Willis

7) Jason Statham

6) Mitch Pileggi – Skinner on X-Files

5) Djimon Hounsou

4) Phil Collins

3) Dean Norris – Hank on “Breaking Bad”

2) Younger Rob Halford – Judas Priest – Yes, yes I know he’s gay, but he was the focus of the first sexy dream I ever had.

1) Vladimir Putin – Meow!

  1. You know – there is something about the lack of hair that focuses the viewer on the eyes. I have always thought it looked better to just go bare than to pretend there is more hair up there with creative combing.

  2. Ah, Bruce Willis. *swoons* I know. He’s about 100 years older than me, but still swoon-worthy. Absolutely. Love your list and your take on wabi-sabi! You’re right! It’s a perceived imperfection, but as the men on your list prove– it’s really just another type of beauty! Thanks for participating in Prompts for the Promptless!! πŸ˜€

    • Thanks. Yes, all of them are older than I am too. The Transporter not that much, so he’s not my favorite. Oh my gosh, I should have named it Hot and Balding Older Men! I guess I do have a type. It really was a great Prompt – not that many have heard of Wabi-sabi.

  3. I love your take on this. I can’t agree on Phil Collins (probably because of my husband’s incomprehensible love for Genesis) but I’m with you on Patrick Stewart. I saw him play Macbeth a few years ago and finally understood why Lady M jumped of the roof!

    • πŸ™‚ My sister can’t understand that choice either, or Rob Halford. Oh, I am so jealous you got to see Stewart on stage! The man has presence.

Also – I’m trying to add you so I can check out your blog. Would you mind leaving a link for me? Please?

  4. I love this! I am with a very sexy bald man and we are always having this discussion, because he hates his lack of hair. I am sending him your blog!

  5. My son is one of my favorite balding men ever. In a Mother/Son way, naturally. I do not, however, feel at all motherly toward Djimon Hounsou — I choose him as my favorite of your offerings. Rawrrrrrr.

  7. I’m partial to Yul Brynner myself, one of my all time favourite movies being “The Magnificent Seven”. Thanks for visiting and commenting on my blog!

  8. Alas, another top-10 list I will never make 😦

  9. Thick dark eyebrows are a key. All other hair-related places are secondary πŸ˜€

    Hellooooo Jason and Bruce!

  11. I am also married to a bald man. I encouraged him to keep the small amount of hair on his head about 1/4 of an inch long. He looks great. Thanks for visiting my blog, Coffee, Tea, or Scuse Me?

  12. Much better than a combover anyday!

  13. I go a little mushy every time Jason Stratham takes his shirt off. My man finds this amusing, but it also allays his own fears of going bald. Patrick Stewart has been a favorite since high school for me. I want to grow up to be him, tho I fear I have a ways to go…..

  14. I agree. I never liked balding/bald men before my evil ex, but I do now (even despite him). Once turned on, hard to turn off!
